Man Faces Numerous Charges Following Chase

A Paducah Man is charged after fleeing from McCracken County Sheriff's Deputy Steve Croft when Croft attempted to speak with him about an alleged robbery that had just taken place.

The man, identified as James R. Dawson Jr. of Paducah, was seen walking down South 9th street in front of the W.B Sanders Retirement Center. Deputy Croft was in the area looking for a suspect of an alleged robbery that had occurred in the block of 9th and Jones Street.

Deputy Croft attempted to make contact with Dawson, and as he did, Dawson reportedly fled on foot for several blocks. He was captured at the corner of Walter Jetton and Kentucky Ave. During the chase Dawson was observed throwing a baggy of later identified as Crack Cocaine. Dawson also was in possession of Marijuana and an large amount of cash believed to be proceeds of drug trafficking. Dawson also had a Felony Probation Violation Warrant for his arrest.

He's charged with Fleeing or evading Police 2nd Degree on foot, Tampering with Physical Evidence, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Trafficking in Marijuana -Less than 8oz Class A Misdemeanor and Felony Probation Violation.
