A Mayfield man was arrested and charged with several recent thefts from vehicles.

The Mayfield Police Department says officers arrested 40-year-old William Powers Thursday, after a recent investigation into thefts from vehicles. Police said they had video evidence of Powers stealing from vehicles, and they got a search warrant for a room at the motel where he was staying.

During the search, numerous items reported stolen were recovered including a stereo, power tools, purses, computers, counterfeit twenty dollar bills, along with drug paraphernalia.

Police said Powers admitted to stealing the items, and to several of the break ins. He was booked into the Graves County Jail on three counts of theft, possession of burglary tools, criminal possession of a forged instrument, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Officers say more charges are likely in the case.
