The second quarter artwork for the 2015 Mayor’s Art Club currently is on display featuring the entries for the Dogwood Artwork & Photography Contest and paintings by artist Kijsa Housman.

The public can view the artwork when City Hall is open, Monday through Friday, 8 am until 4:30 pm.  The artwork will be on display through the end of June.

Professional artist and designer Kijsa Housman’s work is on display in the Mayor’s office at City Hall.  On display are nine floral acrylics with oil glazing. Housman received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Baylor University. She continued with graduate work at Vanderbilt University.  Her artwork and home designs have been featured in several national magazines including Mary Engelbreit’s Home Companion and Creative Home.

Housman also has painted large scale murals and designed sets for Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).  Housman says she always has loved the process of creating.  “My love of creating grows stronger each day.  My children and husband come along for the ride, encouraging, critiquing, and even coloring on the walls with me.”

For more information about Housman, her works of art, and her new venture in downtown Paducah, visit http://kijsa.com.

In the Mayor’s reception area at City Hall, the entries, including the winners, for the Dogwood Artwork & Photography Contest are on display.

The three winners in the art category are 1st place-Jenny Fuller; 2nd place-Elisabeth R. Kelly, and 3rd place-Ellen Hunt.

The three winners in the photography category are 1st place-Basil Drossos, 2nd place-Phyllis Russell, and 3rd place-Kathy McHaney.

The Paducah Civic Beautification Board teamed up with the Paducah School of Art & Design to coordinate the contest.  The contest winners, in addition to the Dogwood Trail winners, will be presented their awards at the April 28 City Commission meeting at 5:30 pm.
