McCracken County High School senior Hope Hodges has been named a National Merit Finalist in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Students across the nation attempt to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Only around 15,000 of the 1.5 million high school juniors who took the exam, including Hodges, have been selected as finalists.
As a finalist, Hodges now moves to the last stage of the competition. The National Merit Program will next determine who should receive $31 million in scholarships. National Merit Finalists are also eligible for additional scholarships from universities.
Hodges is the daughter of Shelly and John Hodges. She plans to attend the University of Alabama after high school graduation.
