Occupancy will initially be limited to 50 patrons in the building at one time.
Services that will be available during this initial phase of reopening include checking out library materials, using public computers, and using photocopiers and printers. Patrons coming to check out items are asked to limit their visit to one hour or less. Computer use (on a library computer or using wifi) will be limited to two hours per day. The number of public computers available was reduced in order to practice social distancing. Staff will not be able to provide extended technology assistance, and they will not be able to touch patrons’ personal electronic devices.
Resources and spaces that will temporarily be unavailable include newspapers and magazines, the Quiet Reading Room, the Local and Family History Room, the meeting rooms, and the children’s play area. No seating or study tables will be available for reading during this initial phase of reopening.
Patrons should enter the Library through the parking lot entrance. The Washington Street entrance will be closed.
Library materials should be returned in the exterior book drop. Staff are unable to directly accept returned materials. Returned library materials are quarantined for 72 hours before being removed from patron accounts. The Library no longer charges overdue fines.
The Library is unable to accept donations until further notice.
Patrons are asked to wear masks, use hand sanitizer, and practice social distancing in accordance with CDC recommendations. Complimentary masks are available for patrons as supplies last, and multiple hand sanitizer stations have been placed throughout the Library.
“Changes in hours and procedures were made in accordance with the Kentucky Healthy at Work guidelines for the safety of our patrons and staff. I’m very grateful for the guidance of Purchase Area Health Department Director Kent Koster when developing our reopening plan.” said Library Director Susan Baier.
“We kindly ask that patrons bring their patience with them to the library, as these are new procedures that will take some adjustment from all of us,” continued Baier. “Please remember that many of these changes are only temporary during this initial phase of reopening.”
