A McCracken County Jail inmate who stole a vehicle and left a work detail Sunday evening has been captured after a 30 mile pursuit in eastern Kentucky.

Thirty-five-year-old Daniel Bell, of Paintsville, stole a truck from Brooks Stadium on Sunday evening and left the area.

On Tuesday afternoon, Floyd County Sheriff's deputies responded to a complaint of a suspicious black Chevrolet Malibu. Deputies say they stopped the vehicle, and two people jumped out when officers approached. They told deputies that a third person who remained inside the vehicle, later identified as Bell, was armed and possibly wanted.

Bell took off in the vehicle and lead deputies on a 30 mile pursuit from Prestonburg to Paintsville before being stopped.

Deputies reportedly recovered drugs, money, and guns, one of which had been reported stolen. According to the Floyd County Sheriff's Office, the vehicle Bell was driving was also stolen. However, it was not the same vehicle Bell stole from Brooks Stadium, according to McCracken County Jailer David Knight.

Bell was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), posession of a firearm by a convicted felon, receiving stolen property, eluding police, several counts of wanton endangerment, and numerous other charges.

One of the passengers was also arrested on several charges. Deputies say the case remains under investigation, and additional charges may follow.
