Alcohol may have been a contributing factor in a McCracken County accident that injured a juvenile driver and  passenger on Thursday.

Around 10 p.m. Thursday, McCracken County Deputies were dispatched to the 4200 block of Kelly Road.

According to the deputies, a 17-year-old Paducah juvenile was traveling north on Kelly Road. For unknown reasons, the juvenile lost control of the vehicle, veered off the roadway and landed in a nearby ditch.

The juvenile and 18-year-old passenger, Eli Gorham of Kevil, required medical attention and were transported to separate hospitals in Paducah.

As deputies investigated, they revealed that alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.

The driver was charged and cited to court for a first-offense DUI, possession of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and first-degree wanton endangerment. Mercy Ambulance Service and West McCracken Fire Department assisted deputies at the scene.
