The library says the program is an initiative of ALA and the Public Library Association, sponsored by Grow With Google, the tech company's economic opportunity initiative. McCracken County Public Library will use the funding to offer a series of virtual classes on digital skills, online job-hunting, and running a small business online.
Librarian Emily Steele says the classes will be offered on Zoom, but they'll be recorded and put on the library's YouTube channel later, so anyone who can't make the class time or who isn't comfortable with Zoom can watch the recording later.
Steele says the library is also starting a monthly email newsletter, a LinkedIn group, and a Facebook group, so people can choose another way to participate.
Classes will begin on Monday, July 20th, and the program will run for two weeks. All the classes are on the library's events calendar at the link below.
There's no sign-up necessary and you don't have to have a library card to attend.
