McCracken students win big at annual K-12 Student Technology Leadership Program (STLP) State Championship.

All three McCracken schools who sent student teams to the K-12 STLP State Championship at Rupp Arena April 18 placed in at least one competition, up against thousands of other students from across Kentucky. 

1st Place Cinemania — McCracken County High School Media Team: Luke Resser, Sam Vasseur, Seth Hawkins, Myles Gaia, Caed Vose, Matthew Barber and Cullen Bridges

McCracken County High School, Faculty Advisor Kristy Griffith:
1st Place Feature Video — Luke Resser

1st Place Visual Storytelling — Casper Douglas

Concord Elementary School, Faculty Advisor Lisa Jones:
Top 11 Team statewide, K-12

2nd Place Runners Up in K-5 Division: 5th grader Jack Thompson, 4th grader Caroline Crouse, 5th grader Maddox O’Neal, 5th grader Allison Ricketts. Their project was a combination of videos that help students and teachers review curriculum in a fun way, including virtual field trips, guest speakers and a website (www.stlpconcord2018.weebly.com)

Heath Elementary School, Faculty Advisor Theresa Wilkins:
2nd Place Podcasting — Heath Elementary School Podcasting Team: 4th graders Reagan Sunderland, Maggie Stephens, Trinity Bridges, Emily Boone

This was Heath Elementary School's first year ever with an STLP team

STLP students demonstrated their learning by competing in various event categories, including instructional, technical or community development projects; digital content creation such as digital art, photography, design, programming, app development and robotics; and technical services like student help desks, network engineering and wireless applications. Students with the best projects were invited to compete at the state level. Nearly 500 schools from 103 districts competed at this year’s event.
