McCracken County High School was locked down temporarily on Thursday morning because of a medical emergency.

The school district's Facebook page notified everyone that the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office and paramedics responded to the medical situation in the front office at the high school. The post said, "Lockdown was initiated as a precautionary measure to keep people from entering or exiting the building until the issue was resolved."

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says they responded to the school about 9:50 am.

The school district's post continued by saying, "the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority in McCracken County Schools."

Details of the situation have not been released.
