The signature fundraising event for the symphony also features an a cappella competition between five high schools. Groups from Ballard County, Graves County, Marshall County, McCracken County and Paducah Tilghman High Schools will compete though monetary votes from the audience, with proceeds from the event supporting the community and education efforts of the symphony.
"This event is crucial to the continued success of our education programs, which reached over 13,000 students last year in our community," said Sing-Off committee chair Mickey Brown.
The Melodores include a dozen members, all of whom are current Vanderbilt students. In addition to performing, they will serve as guest judges for the competing high school groups.
