According to McCracken County Jailer David Knight, after an investigation into contraband being brought into the jail, staff received information that indicated one of the inmates may be in possession of a cell phone.
Jail staff began searching each cell, and ran the inmates through the jail's new body scanner. Officers say after Joerin Casey went through the scanner and a personal search, they discovered a cell phone and a charger in the inmates groin area.
Casey is facing additional felony charges and remained in the McCracken County Jail.
Earlier this week, five people including two inmates and a McCracken deputy jailer were also charged with promoting contraband by smuggling tobacco, pills, cell phones and other items into the jail.
