Eleven-year-old Zachary Pittman is home after five months in hospitals.

Friends and family is about two dozen vehicles welcomed Zack back to Paducah with a motorcade Wednesday afternoon, led through Reidland by a truck from Hendron Fire Department, and cruisers from the McCracken County Sheriff's Department. He arrived at his home about 3:45 pm.

Pittman was struck by a car along Husband Road in May, as he attempted to cross the road shortly after getting off the school bus. Pittman received multiple injuries from the incident, and has spent time recovering at Kosair Children's Hospital and KentuckyOne Health Frazier Rehab Institute, both in Louisville.

Pittman still has a tracheotomy to assist in breathing, but family is hoping that will be removed before too long. He is eating some foods, showing emotions and still going to rehabilitation, but now he will be in his own home, just in time for Thanksgiving.
