A preliminary hearing was held Thursday in McCracken District Court for 42-year-old Jon M. Mullins, a Lone Oak man who was arrested last month for breaking in to a West Paducah home.

When Mullins' home was searched after his arrest, local and state bomb squads were called in because numerous homemade explosive devices were found, along with Kevlar vests, tear gas, and ammunition. The home on Charleston Avenue is near a daycare facility and Lone Oak schools.

Mullins was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, possession of a gun by a convicted felon, and theft by unlawful taking. He could also face federal charges.

Judge Tony Kitchen presided over the hearing, where Mullins' case was bound over to a grand jury. His hearing is set for July 31, where he could be formally indicted.
