UPDATE - One lane of traffic is now open at this location.

A West Paducah Road has been temporarily closed due to a Natural Gas Leak.

The leak was reported in the 5800 block of Metropolis Lake Road, between the two intersections with Ogden Landing Road. That section of road is closed, and this will likely affect school bus routes and times in the area, along with other local traffic.

The road was closed after the leak was reported Tuesday afternoon.

McCracken Co. Sheriff Jon Hayden said others on the scene say levels of gas in the air are not enough to require any evacuations other than the owner of the property where the leak occurred.

Director Jerome Mansfield of McCracken County Emergency Management told West Kentucky Star three trucks from Atmos Energy were on the scene, and the road would likely be closed until at least 5:00 pm.
