A single-vehicle crash in the 4900 block of Oaks Road Tuesday afternoon injured two people.
According to the Hendron Fire Department, they were called to the scene at 4:58 pm.
The occupants were entrapped and it took fire personnel approximately 20 minutes to free them from the wreckage.
The McCracken County Sheriff's Department reports that the driver, 59-year-old Charles Dempsey, of Symsonia, was able to tell them that he believed one of the tires on the vehicle had blown out, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a tree.
Both Dempsey and his passenger, 75-year-old Sharron Fisher, also of Symsonia, were then loaded into ambulances and taken to a nearby landing zone, where they were flown to Tri-Star Centennial Trauma Center in Nashville for treatment of injuries.
The Reidland-Farley Fire Department coordinated the helicopter landing zone operation.
