PAMGA Celebrates 15 Years at Trial Garden on 25th
By WestKyStar Staff
PADUCAH, KY - 2013 marks the 15th anniversary of the UK Demonstration and Trial Garden on Coleman Road. The public is invited to celebrate 15 years of learning that has occurred at the Purchase Area Master Gardeners Association’s (PAMGA) outdoor classroom during “Twilight in the Garden” on Thursday, July 25, from 5 pm until 7 pm.

This free event allows PAMGA to introduce the community to the garden, provide information on various aspects of gardening, and encourage folks to create gardens for themselves. Focus will be on fall gardening, butterfly/hummingbird gardening, attracting bluebirds, drying flowers and herbs, vermicomposting (worm bins), propagation and low maintenance sedum gardens. Children (and adults) will want to visit the newly developed fairy garden and partake in activities designed to encourage future gardeners.

Expressing art throughout the garden is an underlying theme of Twilight. UK Extension Agent, Kathy Wimberley will present a program on Horticulture Art. Kristin Williams from Ephemera Paducah will show garden art and provide information on upcoming classes. Tara Montgomery from Montgomery Gardens will demonstrate small space gardening.

In addition to the demonstrations, University of Kentucky Master Food Volunteers will prepare and serve samples of food using produce and fruit raised in the on-site vegetable garden. Master Gardeners will lead visitors on a tour of the garden and answer gardening questions. A limited number of plants will be sold at very reasonable prices.

Twilight in the Garden will provide something to pique everyone’s interest. To find out more about the event, visit the event blog at
