Paducah International Raceway plans to take a three-week break from racing to improve the track surface and to re-evaluate the 2013 season. The added dirt to the track has not proved to be as consistent as hoped in track preparation. Track officials have made this decision to provide more time to bring the track back to the norm that has come to be expected at PIR. With the wet spring weather and lack of racing the track surface has been a problem to get dialed in. With the high cost of the racing equipment, PIR wants to insure a reliable track for racing.

PIR will also utilize this break to tend to track equipment and track light generator which have been less than dependable this spring.

"We truly hope that this break and re-organization will allow PIR to come back stronger than ever and continue with great family entertainment for years to come," according to track spokesperson Leon Zeeb.

PIR wishes to thank their loyal fans and weekly drivers for their continued support and we hope they understand these decisions.

The next race at PIR will be Friday June 21st with "Fan Appreciation Night”. Adult admission will be $6 and all drivers will be admitted free.  Following this weekend, race fans will want to mark their calendars for the annual Chris Smith Memorial $10,000 to win UMP Summernational event on Friday June 28th,  Tony Stewart NASCAR Night of Stars on Thursday August 1st and USA World 50 on August 23.
