Two students face charges after police say they made threats on social media against a local school.

The Paducah Police Department says the students have been charged with second-degree terroristic threatening, after they posted statements on social media threatening to do harm at Paducah Middle School.

The first threat was made last week, and the second one on Monday. Officers said the investigation showed neither student had actually planned to hurt anyone, and no students or teachers were targeted. One of the suspects reportedly told officers the posting was “a joke”.

Chief Brian Laird encouraged everyone to report anything they see that concerns them.

“We take every report seriously and investigate each one," He said. "We have zero tolerance for threats of harm against our schools.”
