The Paducah Tilghman High School cheerleading coach facing a charge of evidence tampering has resigned his job.

A person with Paducah Public Schools confirmed to West Kentucky Star that 43-year-old David Wade resigned his position as cheerleading coach at PTHS, and also resigned as an instructional assistant at McNabb Elementary School.

Wade pleaded not guilty in court on Tuesday to one count of tampering with physical evidence, related to a Monday complaint from several cheerleaders about a lewd video they reportedly received from Wade.

Police say Wade initially tried to hide his phone, deleted the video, and allegedly asked the girls who received the message to delete it. Wade told detectives he sent the video, but intended it for someone other than the group of students.
