The City of Paducah has released its 2020 Independence Day celebration schedule:

The city along with event sponsor Independence Bank invites you to enjoy a July 4th fireworks celebration, but it will not be at the Paducah riverfront this year. This Saturday, July 4, the fireworks will be launched from Paxton Park Golf Course. The golf course will be closed to the public; instead you're invited to view the special "high aerial" fireworks from many neighborhood parks, parking areas, driveways and backyards. The city has contracted again with Arthur Rozzi Pyrotechnics. The fireworks show will begin at 9:15 p.m. The Parks & Recreation Department will have accompanying music for the fireworks show on radio station 102.5 WDXR.

The fireworks have a rain date of Sunday, July 5 if needed.

The first Street Beat Friday is this Friday, July 3 from 6 until 8 p.m. at the gazebo located at 2nd Street and Broadway.  As you are enjoying Friday evenings in historic downtown Paducah this summer, local musicians will be at the gazebo each Friday in July and August to make your evening more special.  Street Beat Fridays is developed by the Paducah Parks & Recreation Department to support local musicians and provide a musical ambience for those partaking in Paducah’s downtown.

The Paducah Homegrown Farmers’ Market in downtown Paducah on North 2nd Street is open each Saturday through October 24 from 7:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.  To limit the number of customers at one time, the line to enter the market begins at the parking lot entrance on 2nd Street.  A Tuesday mid-week market will be held each Tuesday in July and August from 3 until 7 p.m. at Carson Park.

City Hall will be closed Friday, July 3 in observance of the Independence Day holiday. There will be no residential garbage collection on Friday, July 3.  Friday’s routes will be collected Monday, July 6.

The Compost Facility located at 1560 North 8th Street will be closed Friday, July 3.  If you have questions, contact the Public Works Department at 270-444-8511.
