A Paducah man was arrested on numerous charges and a parole violation warrant after fleeing from a traffic stop Tuesday morning.

Officers performed a traffic stop on Cairo Road after allegedly noticing a vehicle with an expired registration.

As officers approached the vehicle, a passenger identified as 39-year-old James R. Mallas, fled on foot. As he fled, he reportedly dropped a gray bag that contained a methamphetamine pipe, two bags of suspected methamphetamine, and $329 in cash.

When officers located Mallas a short time later, he reportedly dropped another bag containing marijuana.

A computer check revealed an outstanding warrant charging Mallas with a parole violation. He was arrested on the warrant and lodged in the McCracken County Jail.

He is being charged with second-degree fleeing or evading police, tampering with physical evidence, first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
