On Nov. 11, 2017, it was reported that two handguns were stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Fairview Drive in Paducah. McCracken County Sheriff’s Detectives began following up on leads in the case and were not able to locate a suspect. The handgun's serial numbers were entered into the national crime computer system as stolen.
On Monday, detectives learned that 21-year-old Rasheed Rashod Davonte Jones had sold one of the stolen handguns at a local pawn shop. The second handgun was found to have been sold at another local pawn shop. Police said Jones presented his identification when he sold both handguns.
Detectives arrested Jones Friday without incident. He was charged with two counts of receiving stolen property-firearm, and lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
The Sheriff’s Department was assisted by the Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms National Trace Center.
