A Paducah man faces multiple charges following a traffic stop Monday afternoon.

According to the Paducah Police Department, at around 3:20 P.M. officers spotted a vehicle speeding on Husband Road. They said the car then slowed as it approached the police cruiser, and the officer saw the driver wasn't wearing a seat belt.

After officers stopped the vehicle, the driver - later identified as 19-year-old Malik Watson of Paducah - gave the officer a fake name and said he didn't have his driver's license with him.

While talking to Watson, the officer said he smelled the odor of marijuana from the car and asked Watson about illegal drugs. He said Watson then handed over a bag of marijuana.

Watson was arrested and during a search, they found six more bags of marijuana in his pants. During a search of Watson's car, they found and seized a loaded handgun, two cell phones, drug paraphernalia, more marijuana, and approximately $1,100 in cash.

Watson faces six charges, including traffic offenses, drug possession and drug trafficking. He was booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail.
