A traffic stop based on a license plate discrepancy led to the arrest of a Paducah man.

According to the Paducah Police Department, an officer was behind a car on Jackson Street about 3:20 am Saturday. A computer check revealed that the license plate was registered to another vehicle, so the officer performed a traffic stop.

The driver of the car, 61-year-old Timothy Hall, told police he bought the car from a friend and didn't know why the license plate and vehicle records didn't match. When police learned the vehicle was reported stolen from Alabama in December, Hall was arrested.

He was taken to McCracken County Jail on a charge of receiving stolen property valued at less than $10,000.
