On June 13, deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff's Office arrested 20-year-old Austin Draffen on drug and weapon charges. Draffen reportedly had a handgun on his person at the time the arrest. Deputies say Draffen has multiple prior felony convictions and is prohibited from owning a handgun.
Through a continued investigation, detectives with the Sheriff's Office reportedly learned that the handgun had been stolen out of Cape Girardeau, Missouri in late 2017. The owner reported the theft to the Cape Girardeau Police, but didn't have a serial number at the time the theft was reported.
Draffen was arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Jail.
He is being charged with receiving stolen property.
