After a lengthy investigation, police arrested a man Thursday who they say is a significant source of heroin in Paducah.

Detective Nathan Young said undercover officers have been investigating 20-year-old Jason A. Morris, who police say has no permanent address, since the fall of 2012.

“For the last four months, we’ve been buying heroin from him,” Young said. “He’s probably what you’d consider a pretty big dealer in the heroin business in Paducah.”

Young said Drug and Vice Enforcement investigators have purchased about nine grams of heroin from Morris. He said heroin was bought from Morris Thursday; his vehicle was stopped a short time afterward, and he was arrested.

“In the last few months, heroin has definitely made a comeback, whether it’s due to stricter prescription drug laws or shortages of other drugs,” Young said.

Morris was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail, charged with first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (heroin).

The investigation is continuing, and other charges are pending.
