Two people were hurt, and a driver was cited for DUI and other charges Sunday after a crash in McCracken County.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded at 11:20 p.m. to a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Old Mayfield Road and Elmdale Road. Deputies said the vehicle had run off the west side of the roadway and struck a concrete culvert. It was also discovered that the occupants of the vehicle had left the scene.

Deputies learned the driver, 19-year-old Samantha Messenger, was at her Paducah home. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries. Deputies say she was under the influence of alcohol while driving.

A passenger in the vehicle, 45-year-old Scott Sontag, also of Paducah, was hurt and taken to a local hospital.

A two-year-old passenger in the vehicle did not appear to be injured.

Messenger was cited into court for leaving the scene of an accident, driving without insurance, aggravated DUI, fourth-degree assault, second-degree wanton endangerment, and third-degree criminal mischief.
