A teacher and cheerleading coach employed by Paducah City Schools has been arrested after he reportedly sent a sexually explicit video to several students by text message.

According to the Paducah Police Department, officers were called to Paducah Tilghman High School, where officials said some cheerleaders reportedly got a video message from their coach, 43-year-old David Wade. The video reportedly showed an unknown man pleasuring himself.

According to Superintendent Donald Shively, the cheerleaders reported the video almost immediately and police were soon notified, along with the Kentucky Department of Community Based Services.

Police say their investigation determined that Wade initially attempted to hide his phone, and had deleted the video. He had also allegedly asked the girls who received the message to delete it. Wade acknowledged that he sent the message, but also told detectives that the cheerleader group was not the intended recipient.

Wade was arrested Monday afternoon on a charge of tampering with physical evidence. Detectives are consulting with the Commonwealth's Attorney to determine if Wade will face more charges.

Shively said Wade has been suspended from his job. He is listed as an instructional assistant on the McNabb Elementary School website, and as the head cheerleading coach at PTHS.
