The City of Paducah will resume in-person City Commission meetings beginning Tuesday evening, with some significant changes made to the way meetings are conducted.
Commissioners have been meeting virtually for months due to COVID-19 concerns. Paducah City Clerk Lindsay Parish says future meetings will be held in the City Commission Chambers at City Hall, and public attendance will be limited to 15 people.
Other social distancing measures being implemented include acrylic shields that have been placed between seats, along with many seats being blocked off. Anyone who attends a meeting will also be asked to wear a mask, and to provide information to aid in contact tracing in case someone at the meeting is later diagnosed with the virus.
Parish says although meetings are going back to a more conventional structure, the public can still watch meetings live on the city's Youtube channel. Comments can also be submitted remotely.
"We can only have about 15 members of the public in there at any given time. We will still be having directors participate virtually. We will still be having public comments in person, and we will also provide that ability to be done virtually." She said.
Paducah City Hall is located at 300 South 5th Street. City Commission meetings take place on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at 5:30 p.m., unless otherwise noted.
The McCracken County Fiscal Court will continue to meet virtually for the time being, with no immediate plans announced to go back to meeting in-person.
