Plane Crash Debris Removed, Investigation Ongoing

A plane crash recovery team spent Saturday morning removing the debris from Thursday's crash that killed Dr. Clint Hill.

The team spent the morning bagging up smaller pieces from the railroad tracks near the crossing on Metropolis Lake Road. The largest piece of the plane, a wing and part of the fuselage, was removed last. 

Hill, who was 49 years old, was piloting a Piper PA-32R Saratoga when it went down just 1.5 miles from runway 14 at Barkley Regional Airport. He was the only person on the plane. 

McCracken County Sheriff Matt Carter said the recovery team and investigators will conclude their work on Saturday. He said his office has not been given a timeline for when the FAA and NTSB will release any information about the crash. 

Dr. Hill, a spinal surgeon, helped start the Orthopaedic Institute of Western Kentucky in 2009. He is survived by his wife and five children.
