Guests at the National Quilt Museum's annual "Friends of the Museum" Reception on Monday evening marveled at the artistry of the quilts in the New Quilts From an Old Favorite: Carolina Lily contest exhibit. This international contest, hosted by the National Quilt Museum, challenges quiltmakers to marry traditional patterns with innovative, contemporary designs and practices. The contest quilts accepted for the exhibit are displayed along side antique quilts of the same pattern. After being displayed at the National Quilt Museum, the exhibit travels to other AQS Quilt Shows as well as museums and galleries across the United States.
