A Reidland man faces murder charges, after a police investigation into a house fire and death of his wife of 36 years.

On Friday evening, McCracken County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested 55-year-old Keith W. Griffith for the murder of his wife, 55-year old-Julie Griffith. According to police, Julie Griffith was found dead in her home, located at 307 Tudor Blvd in the Reidland area, after a fire was reported there by a passerby last Friday morning.  An autopsy performed later that same day reportedly confirmed to investigators that foul play was a factor in her death. Police are not releasing the exact cause of death at this time.

Since last Friday, police say there have been more than a thousand man hours devoted to the investigation, and detectives say they have uncovered a “mountain of evidence” that led to Griffith's arrest. The McCracken County Commonwealth Attorney’s Office and the Coroners Office have also been active in this investigation from the onset, according to police.  The department has been quiet as to details of the investigation, citing potential harm to the integrity of the investigation as the reason for the silence.

The Sheriff's Department said they have been aware of the concern that some Reidland area residents have had since this incident, as well as concern over some residential burglaries that occurred earlier last week. They said they hope that this arrest will help ease those people's fears. Police have also been beefing up patrols in the area.

Griffith is charged with murder, arson 2nd degree, tampering with physical evidence, and 2 counts of cruelty to animals. He is being held in the McCracken County Regional Jail on a one million dollar cash bond.

Multiple agencies assisted in the investigation.
