Scammers are at it again, impersonating law enforcement officials in an attempt to get victims' personal information.
The McCracken County Sheriff's Office says it has received calls recently from local residents who got phone calls from scammers pretending to be deputies. Caller ID reportedly shows the correct number for the sheriff's office and scammers will identify themselves as Chief Deputy Mike Turnbow, telling the victims they failed to report for jury duty and they must pay a "fine" with a credit card in order to avoid having a warrant issued for their arrest.
The sheriff's office says it's not their policy to call residents in this way, and anyone receiving a call like this should not give any personal information and contact their office immediately.
