The superintendent screening committee met with school board members in executive session Thursday. Pete Galloway with the Kentucky School Board Association told West Kentucky Star the committee revealed it is considering 13 candidates, three or four of whom are from out of state.
Galloway, who previously served as Graves County Schools Superintendent, is assisting the screening committee as they work to fill the position. He said they will be conducting interviews over the weekend.
"We will be interviewing a couple of applicants on Sunday. At that time the committee will make a decision on just exactly what they're going to do. From that point we should have some idea of what direction they're going to go. Galloway said.
The school system's former superintendent, Brian Harper, resigned on March 8. Board members appointed Heath Cartwright interim superintendent on March 11.
