A second teenager was arrested in connection with an incident where a car was destroyed after lit fireworks were thrown into it more than a week ago.

The Paducah Police Department said 18-year-old Javon Wiley was arrested Tuesday afternoon in the 1400 block of Monroe Street. Another suspect, 19-year-old Ti'rell Beavers, was arrested last Thursday.

Just before midnight on June 27, officers and firefighters responded to a car fire on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. When they arrived, the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames. Four people were in the car when it caught fire, but escaped safely.

One of the occupants told officers they were driving east on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive when another vehicle drove past, and someone inside threw a lit firework into their vehicle, causing fireworks inside the car to catch fire.

Detectives said they determined Beavers and Wiley were the ones reponsible for throwing the lit fireworks into the car.

Wiley was booked into the McCracken County Jail. Both men are being charged with first-degree arson and first-degree wanton endangerment.
