Paducah Parks Services is offering a new class at the Paducah Recreation Center located at 1527 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.  The class “Weigh to Health”, taught by Karen Smith, R.N., B.S.N., will begin February 4.  Each class is one hour in length and will be held on Mondays at 11:30 am for six weeks at a cost of $75.

Participants will receive pre and post program assessments which will include height, weight, body mass index, body measurements, and blood pressure.  The class involves circuit training that works all muscle groups simultaneously for up to one minute per exercise to improve strength, flexibility, and cardiovascular health.  Each circuit involves seven exercises, and the circuit will change each week.  For maximum health results, participants are encouraged to repeat the circuit on the days between classes.  Modifications will be provided to meet each participant’s individual needs and abilities.

In addition to the exercises, participants will be keeping a food journal that will be reviewed every two weeks by a registered dietician.  Nutritional information and eating plans will be provided.  Plus, participants will be able to get additional consultation via email.

For information about registering for “Weigh to Health” through Paducah Parks Services, visit www.paducahky.gov, call 444-8508, or visit the Parks office located at 1400 H.C. Mathis Drive.

Beginning date for the class has been changed. Original story had a starting date of Jan. 28, but the Paducah Parks Department changed their schedule - Editor
