Police say excessive speed and alcohol were the probable causes of a rollover accident on Monday night.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened on Lovelaceville Road near Colony Drive. Deputies said a vehicle, driven by 45-year-old James Duncan of Paducah, was traveling at a high rate of speed and passing vehicles in a no passing zone. After overtaking two vehicles, Duncan's vehicle ran off the roadway into a ditch and struck a mailbox before overturning.

Duncan had to be removed from the vehicle and transported to a local hospital.

Duncan was cited at the hospital for DUI 2nd offense, no registration plate and no insurance. Deputies said further charges for damage to private property are pending.
