McCracken County detectives have arrested a Paducah man following a foot chase after he reportedly sold two stolen handguns.

On Friday, detectives say they received information indicating that 24-year-old Benard Williams was attempting to sell two handguns on Snapchat. The guns are believed to have been stolen.

Detectives arranged to meet Williams in the parking lot of a local business to purchase the handguns. Following the alleged sale of the guns detectives attempted to arrest Williams and he fled on foot. After a brief chase he was arrested.

According to deputies, their investigation revealed that one of the guns had been reported stolen from a vehicle Friday morning.

Williams was lodged in the McCracken County Jail. Deputies say the investigation is ongoing and other charges are likely.

He is being charged with fleeing or evading police on foot, resisting arrest, and receiving stolen property.
