Two Tennessee residents were arrested Saturday after bank officials became suspicious of checks they were attempting to cash.

According to the Paducah Police Department, officers were called Saturday morning after employees at Community Financial Services Bank on Park Avenue noticed a man and a woman were both trying to cash checks valued at $1,985.43.

Bank officials contacted the account holder, and learned the checks were forgeries. Police arrested 49-year-old Jacqueline F. Rice and 50-year-old John R. Dickerson, both of Knoxville, TN, on charges of first-degree forgery and first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

Both were lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
