The Lions Club of Paducah and WPSD Local 6 are pleased to announce the return of Ball in the House and Shawn Christian to the 56th Annual Telethon of Stars, to be held Saturday, November 10 and Sunday, November 11 at the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center. Beneficiaries of the Telethon include Easter Seals West Kentucky in Paducah, TLC of Southern Illinois, St. John’s Community Services-CDS (formerly Community Developmental Services, Inc.) and Easter Seals Southeast Missouri. All centers serve individuals with disabilities and other special needs.


Returning for their seventh Telethon appearance is the soul-pop/R&B vocal band, Ball in the House. Ball in the House made their first Telethon appearance in 2003. Since then they have been a Telethon favorite. Based out of their hometown of Boston, Massachusetts, their extensive tour schedule averages 250 shows a year, reaching thousands of people of all ages. From theaters to performing arts centers, fairs & festivals to opening for some of the biggest act in the world, Ball in the House hosts a very diverse calendar. They have opened and performed with such artists as the Beach Boys, Fantasia, the Jonas Brothers, Gladys Knight, Lionel Richie, Jessica Simpson, Blondie, Smoky Robinson, KC and the Sunshine Band, and most recently, Rick Springfield. For six years Ball in the House were the voices behind the Kraft Cool Whip Commercials. Ball in the House has performed on the TODAY Show, America’s Got Talent, The Daily Buzz, and the Philadelphia 4th of July parade. Despite their grueling tour schedule, returning “home” to Paducah is something the group looks forward to and highlights their year.


Days of Our Lives star Shawn Christian will return for his second Telethon appearance. A native of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Shawn has enjoyed a successful and varied career as an actor. After graduating from Michigan’s Ferris State University with a degree in Marketing, he located to Chicago where he hones his acting skills on stage with the improvisational company “Improv Olympic.” Shawn then landed the role of working class anti-hero “Mike Kasnoff” on the New York-based CBS daytime drama “As the World Turns”. Shawn moved to Los Angeles and has appeared in television shows
“Boston Legal”, Crossing Jordan”, “Las Vegas”, “Friends”, “The Drew Carey Show”, “Ellen”, “Will and Grace”, Becker”, and “Coupling”. Shawn also starred opposite Lori Loughlin in the WB’s hit series “Summerland” and opposite Jami Gertz and Tyne Daly in the CBS hit movie “Undercover Christmas”. Additional television work includes “Secrets of the Mountain,” “CSI”, “Shark”, “Red Skies” and “Spy Girl”, just to mention a few. Shawn recently finished filming as lead role in the independent film “Spanners”. He also stars in “Mating Dance” opposite Chris Pine and opposite John Hawkes in “Small Town Saturday Night.” He currently stars as ‘Dr. Daniel Jones’ on NBC’s “Days of Our Lives.”


The Telethon of Stars is a 15-hour free LIVE show broadcast on WPSD Local 6 and webcast over the Internet. The event is open and FREE to the public at the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center.
