Three Paducah residents were arrested Thursday on shoplifting charges.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a business on Lone Oak Road to a report of three people shoplifting items from the store. While the business was on the phone with dispatchers, the three individuals reportedly fled the store. The employee told deputies the suspects got into a black Ford passenger car and left on Lone Oak Road heading towards I-24.

Detectives pulled over the vehicle in the area of Glenn Street and Lone Oak Road. As deputies approached the vehicle, they saw the stolen property inside the vehicle.  A search of the vehicle revealed several items of stolen property from at least two local businesses on Lone Oak Road. They also reportedly found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Deputies arrested 43-year-old Christopher Buntin, 51-year-old Christy Buchanan, and 35-year-old Mitchell White. All three suspects are charged with theft by unlawful taking under $500.

Deputies said White has a criminal history involving at least a dozen shoplifting convictions, including a 2016 case where he assaulted a store employee in Boyd County.

More charges are expected in the case, according to deputies.
