The Paducah Police Department says detectives charged three people with selling alcohol to a minor on Thursday evening.

The department says detectives sent a teen to buy alcohol at liquor and convenience stores in Paducah. Captain Matt Smith said two of 11 businesses sold alcohol to the girl.

The teen who worked with officers reportedly went into the establishments or to the drive-thru window and attempted to purchase alcohol. Two employees of Superway at 649 N. 8th Street and one employee of B&G Liquors at 3821 Hinkleville Road were charged with selling alcohol to a minor, which is a Class B misdemeanor.

Police said Superway is not licensed to sell alcohol, but the two employees sold their own beer to the girl.

The employees who were charged are Superway employees 41-year-old Etarence Talley of Madison Street and 27-year-old Yazan Alajous of Kevil, and B&G Liquors employee 73-year-old Gordon F. Wheeler of Metropolis.
