The City of Paducah has proclaimed this Thursday, August 13th, as "Tony Falk Day". Falk, born Anthony Felker of Paducah, will be honored with a ceremony this Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Oscar Cross Boys & Girls Club of Paducah. He'll also be named a "Duke of Paducah" by Mayor Brandi Harness.

Falk graduated from Paducah Tilghman High School in 1977 and shortly thereafter began working for All-Star Wrestling, which ran shows at the former Paducah Sports Arena on Kentucky Avenue. From there, Falk would go on to work for such promotions as International Championship Wrestling in Lexington, the Championship Wrestling Association of Memphis, World Class Championship Wrestling in Dallas, World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico and others.

The list of opponents is a who's who of professional wrestling: Jerry "The King" Lawler, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, and Mick Foley, just to name a few. Falk also held many titles during his career, including the National Wrestling Alliance Mid-America championship, the United State Wrestling Association Television championship and the WWC Junior Heavyweight championship. Falk also promotes wrestling; he re-launched All-Star Wrestling of Paducah which ran from 1994 to 2004 at the National Guard Armory. He also promoted the United States Wrestling Organization in Nashville.

Many veterans have called Tony Falk one of the true unsung heroes of professional wrestling. Falk has been celebrated for working with up-and-coming talent to help cultivate their careers. Johnson, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, and Jeff Jarrett are among those who have publicly praised Falk for helping them as rookies with advice on ring technique and presentation.

The "Tony Falk Day" celebration is open to the public. Falk will be available for autographs and photographs after the ceremony. Free refreshments will be served. For more information, contact Mike Felker at 270-898-1996 or email michaeljfelker@comcast.net.
