Paducah Tilghman High School senior Lance Butler has been named a finalist in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The nationwide pool of finalists represents less than one percent of United States high school seniors.

He has been a Student Intern for the Paducah Human Rights Commission for two years. Butler was the starting kicker and punter for Paducah Tilghman's football team for three years, earning inclusion on the All-Purchase Region Team as Placekicker and All-State honors for punting last year. He is a Kentucky Commonwealth Ambassador, a PTHS Student Ambassador, an alumnus of Kentucky Governor's Scholar Program, and an alumnus of the Chamber of Commerce's Youth LEAD. He is the son of Lori and Danny Butler.
