Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Fugitive

A fugitive with felony arrest warrants was apprehended during a traffic stop Wednesday morning.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, at around 1:00 am, deputies tried to stop a car on Yarbro Lane for traffic violations. The driver turned onto Victor Street, stopped, and fled on foot.

The passenger, 32-year-old Matthew Robertson of Smithland, also fled on foot. He was apprehended and taken into custody. During a search of Robertson, deputies allegedly found a methamphetamine pipe.

It was determined that Robertson had two active felony arrest warrants from McCracken County.

Robertson was arrested and charged with fleeing or evading police (on foot), possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also charged with two McCracken County Bench Warrants.

Robertson was lodged in the McCracken County Regional Jail.
