According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, just after 9:00 pm, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on a car for traffic violations. The driver of the vehicle, 35-year-old Melissa G Lyman of Paducah, had a two-year-old child in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop.
Upon further investigation, deputies learned that Lyman had a suspended operator's license for a previous DUI. It was also determined that Lyman was currently operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
During the traffic stop, deputies said Lyman put the vehicle into drive, and attempted to flee from the traffic stop. A deputy climbed into the vehicle, and turned the vehicle off to prevent her from fleeing.
Lyman was arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Jail. She's charged with disregarding a stop sign, failure to or improper signal, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs (aggravating circumstances) 3rd offense, driving on a DUI suspended license (aggravating circumstances), attempted fleeing or evading police, wanton endangerment and resisting arrest.
