A Monday night traffic stop led to a man's arrest on methamphetamine charges.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, deputies conducted a traffic stop late Monday night on US 60 near Maxon Road. As the vehicle was pulling over on Maxon Road, deputies said they observed someone throwing items out of the passenger side window.

During a search, deputies allegedly found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Deputies say 49-year-old Steven Sullivan, of Paducah, grabbed the items from the center cup holder of his vehicle and threw them out of the window to avoid prosecution.

Sullivan was arrested and transported to the McCracken County Regional Jail on charges of  no registration plates, no registration receipt, operating on a suspended or revoked operator's license, failure of owner to maintain required insurance, failure to register transfer of a motor vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and tampering with physical evidence.

Sullivan was also served with an unrelated arrest warrant out of Lyon County for shoplifting.
