According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, deputies conducted a traffic stop early Friday morning on a car for traffic violations. Deputies said the driver, 26-year-old Jermaine Southward of Paducah, was operating the vehicle with no operator's license or registration.
Further investigation led to a search of the vehicle. While deputies were searching the vehicle, Southward fled on foot. After a short foot pursuit, Southward was apprehended and began to resist arrest. After a brief struggle, Southward was taken into custody.
The search of the vehicle continued and resulted in deputies reportedly finding methamphetamine and other drug-related items. Southward was arrested and transported to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
Southward is charged with possession of meth,
possession of drug paraphernalia, fleeing and evading and resisting
arrest.
