A Paducah man was arrested early Saturday morning on drug and DUI charges.

A McCracken County Sheriff's Department says a deputy pulled over an SUV just after midnight because of a traffic violation. While speaking with the driver, 45-year-old Jimmy Shafer, the deputy determined Shafer was under the influence of intoxicants. He was arrested, and during a search, deputies say they found methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Shafter was taken to McCracken County Jail on charges of DUI 1st offense, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) 2nd offense, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, failure to maintain registration on a vehicle, and failure to maintain insurance.
